Warm or Cool Weather: Your Guide to What to Do in Myrtle Beach

Ah, September in Myrtle Beach. The temperatures are cooling, but there’s still plenty of warm days to enjoy. On one trip, you might have an array of highs and lows to deal with.

And that means an array of fun to find.

Here’s a guide for what to do when you’re on the Grand Strand during these temperature fluctuations. You’ll get cool breezes and the warm sun still for a September getaway. It’s an awesome time of year to visit.

60-70 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT: GET OUT AND ABOUT

We’re talking perfect conditions for doing just about anything outside (except for maybe activities that leave you soaking wet!)

Walks on the beach

Myrtle Beach has plenty of beaches close to the boardwalk, and all its restaurants and shops. You can find a bit of seclusion, too, especially early in the morning. It can be relaxing, romantic, or just a fun way for the family to get in steps.

Head to a state park

South Carolina has a wealth of biological diversity, and you can see so much of it with a visit to a state park. Myrtle Beach State Park, the state’s first, is a wonderful family spot with fishing, horseback riding, nature trails, and more. Huntington Beach State Park has coastal and wetland wildlife, and Atalaya is a destination in itself!

70-80 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT: OUTDOOR SHOPPING, DINING, OR LIVE MUSIC

Still perfect for those stay-outside or go-inside activities, as a participant or a spectator.

Outdoor shopping

Broadway at the Beach gives you opportunities to get steps in where everyone can have fun. Visit shops such as A Silver Shack, Kwik-E-Mart, Christmas at the Beach, and more.

The Market Common is full of great shops and a park. Come to shop Orvis, Soma, Sunglass Hut, and more.

Sail and Sea Connection is an outdoor sporting goods store, renowned for sales and service of water adventure gear.

Outdoor dining

Bummz Beach Cafe is a laid-back, local-favorite joint, serving beachy drinks such as Tito’s Sonic and Crownberry Apple, to go with steamed shrimp and wings.

LandShark Bar & Grill serves American fare and tropical drinks on the beach, with top-notch service. Grab some Taco Nachos, a Landshark Burger and Lemon Drop Margarita.

RipTydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar is a lively choice you won’t forget, especially if you try the Mac’D Out experience. It’s mac and cheese as you’ve never had it before. We recommend an Everything Under the Sun cocktail in a Mega Mason for your drinking pleasure.

Live music

You’ve heard of Beach Music for sure — but the Grand Strand has a variety of genres in some pretty cool venues.

The Bowery packs country and rock history in a no-frills scene near the beach. You’ll have a rockin’ time with low-priced drinks, great atmosphere, and munchies.

88 Keys Piano Bar is that place in Myrtle Beach you’ll come back to every time you’re here. You’ll find extraordinary pianists who know more than 3,000 songs for a wonderful night out with family, friends, or a date.

Tin Roof is a hopping joint with a great view you can’t miss as you pass it on the strip! The music is always level 11 and so is the crowd.

80-90 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT: STAY COOL!

Chances are this is steamier than what you call home; luckily there are plenty of ways to fend off the heat!
