At The Breakers Resort, we understand that you want to plan for the best vacation experience possible. We are here to help answer all of your questions, as well as to put your mind at ease for a fun and relaxing beach vacation. Below you’ll find Frequently Asked Questions that are common to our visitors.
RESERVATION AND CHECK-IN FAQ'S

How old do I need to be to stay at this resort?

Everyone in the room must be 21 years or older unless they are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in time starts after 4:00 PM. Check-out time is before 11:00 AM.

Are early check-ins and late check-outs possible?

Not during the summer season (June, July, and August). You can request it with the front desk (843-444-4444) during the off season, but it is never guaranteed.

Do I need a credit card at check-in?

Yes. The credit card used to make the reservation must be present at check-in with card holder and matching ID for verification purposes.  

Can I pay my balance in cash?

Payment options are credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover only), debit card, traveler’s check, or money order. A valid photo ID is required at check-in. No personal checks will be accepted for payment. Cash is also accepted, but a credit card is required to be put on file for the security deposit.

Can I book a reservation without a deposit?

An advance deposit equal to the first night’s stay is due at time of booking. The remaining balance is due at time of check-in.  

What is the tax percent on a room?

The room tax in the City of Myrtle Beach is 13%.

What is included in the resort fee?

The resort fee includes periodical maintenance associated with use of all on-site amenities, parking, pool towels,local and domestic long-distance calls and more.

How much is the security deposit / worry free vacation fee?

A $100 security deposit is required at check-in (via credit card) and is refundable at check-out minus any incidental charges during the time of stay. You can also purchase the Worry Free Vacation for $39.95 (plus tax), non-refundable, paid with your first night stay deposit.

What is the security deposit / worry free vacation fee for?

The security deposit is a required temporary charge at check-in (via credit card) and is refundable at check-out minus any incidental charges during the time of stay.
The optional Worry Free Vacation Fee is a non-refundable fee that can be added to your reservation and will cover up to $1,000 in non-negligent damage that may occur during your stay.
  • The Worry Free Vacation Fee is not insurance but is an agreement that covers non-negligent or accidental damage. Non-negligent or accidental damage may include but is not limited to: scratches to the wall, accidental breakage of glassware, spills, minor stains, and accidental furniture breakage.
  • The Worry Free Vacation Fee does not cover intentional or neglectful damage to the unit. This may include but is not limited to: damage caused by a party, damage caused by smoking or pets, theft or removal of unit inventory, or furniture breakage if determined negligent.
  • Guests’ personal property is not included under the terms of the Worry Free Vacation Fee.

Can I pay my security deposit in cash?

No, all reservations will require a valid credit card to be authorized in the amount of $100 in lieu of a cash deposit. We no longer accept cash as a form of payment.

Can I make payments on my balance before my vacation?

You can make payments up to 30 days before your arrival date. All cards used to make payments must be presented at check-in by the card holder with matching ID.

How do I adjust my reservation?

You can contact the reservations department to make changes. If you booked through a third party (examples: Expedia, hotels.com, booking.com, etc.), you have to contact them directly for any questions, changes, and cancellations.

PROPERTY POLICY FAQ'S

What is the Smoking Policy?

Breakers Resort is smoke-free. Absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed in guest rooms, on balconies, or common areas around the property. Guests may smoke in outdoor designated smoking areas only. A $250.00 cleaning fee will apply if smoking occurs within a guest’s room.

What is the cancelation policy?

We understand plans change which is why we created our risk-free cancellation and change policy.
  • The advance deposit is 100% refundable if a reservation is canceled up to 14 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
  • Reservations canceled within 14 days of the arrival date can reallocate the advance deposit funds toward future dates within one year of the original stay dates. Please note that changes to the reservation will be subject to availability and any room rate differences.
  • Guests who do not arrive on their scheduled arrival date and fail to notify the resort of a change to their stay dates, therefore acknowledge forfeiture of advance deposit funds.
  • For Monthly Rentals Only: All deposits are due at the time of booking. Full amount of the deposit is non-refundable. No changes to the dates of arrival are permitted within 30 days of arrival. Payment of full stay is required upon check in. There will be absolutely no refunds on early departures. Additional requirements for winter rentals do apply.

What is your refund policy in the event of a hurricane?

In the event of a pending hurricane and the Governor’s issuance of a mandatory evacuation, guests will receive a full refund. If there is not a Governor’s mandated evacuation, guests can reallocate the advanced deposit to be used as the deposit toward different stay dates within 1 year of the original reservation.

What is the resort's Do Not Disturb policy?

Your Health and Safety is of utmost importance, therefore, if the “Do Not Disturb” sign remains on your door for an extended period- of- time and we are unable to contact you, we may knock on your door and if no answer, enter your room to determine your well-being. Please understand it is not our intention to disturb guests during their vacation, however, we reserve the right to enter rooms to check on the safety and security of our guests and property as well as to perform maintenance and repairs.

Are linens provided?

Yes

What room types have a washer and dryer provided?

2, 3, and 4 bedroom condos.

What bathroom and kitchen supplies are provided in my unit?

Toilet paper, soap bars, bath towels, one travel size dish soap. Please note that due to allergies, paper towels and laundry detergent are not provided.

What kitchen appliances are in a standard room?

A small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.

What is included in a galley & full kitchen?

A full size refrigerator, stove/oven, sink, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, cups, and utensils.

What is included in an efficiency kitchen?

A small refrigerator, small stove/oven, microwave, sink, pot, pan, dishes, cups, and utensils.

What amenities are included in my room?

Every room is equipped with a hairdryer, iron & ironing board, and safe.

What housekeeping services are available daily?

To help ensure the safety of our guests and employees, housekeeping services are limited to removing trash and refreshing your towels on a daily basis.

Do you have handicap accessible rooms?

Yes, the Ocean View Handicap Accessible Queen Suite in the Palms Tower (N) has wider doorways and support bars in the bathroom

Do any rooms have a whirlpool tub?

Yes. The Ocean View Spa King Suite (NSPA), the Oceanfront Two Bedroom Condo (W), and the Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condos (X & Y).

Do you have room service?

No. The Breakers Resort does not offer room service.

Are linens provided?

Yes.

Is there Wi-Fi available?

Yes. Wireless internet is available throughout the resort.

What restaurants are available at the resort?

Hours vary based on season.
  • Papa’s Breakfast Restaurant – located across the street
  • Strong Waters Craft Cocktails & Kitchen – located across the street
  • The Rusty Reel Oceanfront Bar & Grill – located in the Lobby Level of Palms Tower and is available for lunch and dinner

  • Jaybo’s Pizzeria – located across the street

What water amenities are offered at the resort?

The Cove – our Indoor Waterpark with 5 Water Slides, 7 Indoor and Outdoor Pools, 3 Kiddie Pools, 5 Hot Tubs, 1 Indoor and Outdoor Lazy River, Sunken Pirate Ship with 2 Kiddie Water Slides.

What water amenities are heated?

The Pools at the Paradise, Palms, and Sailfish buildings are heated. As well as the indoor water park The Cove. 

What are the rules/ regulations for the water slides?

The slides’ hours vary based on season. No running is permitted up the stairs. Riders must slide on their backs with their legs and arms crossed only. Ridding head first or on your stomach is not permitted. Only ONE rider per turn, absolutely NO chains/trains/parental escort allowed. NO “sling-shotting” into the slide. Riders must sit down and ease into the slide. ALL RIDERS MUST BE 48” TALL. There is no age requirement. the Weight limited permitted per slider is to not exceed 300 lbs. Only 1 rider per slide is allowed to wait on the platform at a time. No foreign objects are allowed in pockets, and no jewelry can be worn while riding the slide. The Breakers is not responsible for any damages or lost items. The dress code does not permit cutoff jeans or swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets or metal ornamentation are to be worn. Only approved swimsuits are allowed.

What are the pool hours?

Our water amenities are open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. Seasonal hours may vary.

Are pool towels available?

Yes, but they are not allowed to be brought to the beach. Please bring your own beach towels.

What other amenities are offered at the resort?

Exercise room, Golf & Entertainment Shop, Sauna, Business Center, Shuffle Board, Seaside Market.

PARKING FAQ'S

Does the resort provide parking?

Yes. Free parking is available in our 2 parking garages.

What is the parking garage height clearance?

The parking garage clearance at 21st Ave N is 8 ft. The parking garage clearance at Withers Dr. is 6 ft. 6 in

Are trailers and motorcycles allowed at the resort?

We DO NOT have Trailer Parking at this time, but motorcycles are allowed to park on the second floor of the parking garage.

How many parking passes will I be given?

1 parking pass is given for standard rooms and 1 bedroom suites. 2 parking passes are given for 2, 3, and 4 bedroom condos.

Does the resort provide electric vehicle chargers?

We are pleased to offer this option as a paid service for guests driving an electric battery vehicle – information can be found by scanning the QR code located at the charging station. Payment is made through the EVPassport Charging service. ECPassport’s Lloyd is a DC Fast Charger with 2 charging ports and a 95kW peak output.

The Electric vehicle charging station is located in the shared Breakers Resort parking garage across the street from our hotel on the second floor at the top of the entry ramp. This charger is available to guests of both the Breakers and Marriott facility. The charging space is first come, first serve. The hotel is not responsible for payment, damage or inability to use the vehicle charger and any questions related to the charging unit would need to be directed to the EVPassport Technical Support listed at the station.
PET FAQ'S

Can I bring my pet with me on vacation?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at The Breakers Resort. We do allow registered service dogs only.

Are Dogs allowed on the beach?

From May 1 through Labor Day, dogs are allowed on the beach only before 10 AM and after 5 PM. From the day after Labor Day to April 30 each year, dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of day. At all times when dogs are allowed on the beach, they must be on a leash that’s seven feet or shorter, and you must pick up and properly dispose of the droppings.
Miscellaneous FAQ'S

Is breakfast provided at the resort?

You can purchase breakfast at Papa’s Restaurant for $10.50 in advance or $11.95+tax at the restaurant.

Are cribs available?

Pack and Plays are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Where can I find guest reviews for the resort?

Tripadvisor.com is a website used for guest reviews.

Can I fish on the beach?

Yes, you may fish on the beach, but South Carolina requires a license to fish from the surf.  No license is needed to fish from a public fishing pier. Please call the city’s Chamber of Commerce for additional information at (800) 356-3016.

Am I allowed to grill at the resort or on the beach?

No. Grills are not allowed at the resort or on the beach due to fire and environment codes.

Can I rent bicycles while I’m on vacation?

The closest bike rental company is the Pee Dee Bicycle Company (843-839-4657).

How far away is the Myrtle Beach International Airport?

Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is 4.4 miles or approximately 12 minutes away from the resort.

Is there a shuttle to and from the airport?

Yes, but this is a seasonal service based on availability. Reservations are encouraged, please call the front desk.

Is there a shuttle to the local attractions?

The shuttle is a seasonal service. Guests should call the resort to inquire/reserve the shuttle service, based on availability.  

What attractions are within a 15 minute drive radius?

The boardwalk, Broadway at the Beach, TopGolf, Hollywood Wax Museum, Myrtle Waves, Broadway Grand Prix Race Park, Adrenaline Adventures Zip Line, Family Kingdom, Splashes Oceanfront Water Park.

Is there a grocery store nearby the resort?

Yes there are grocery stores within a 5-15 minute drive of the resort. 

Can I rent chairs and umbrellas for the beach?

Yes you can through Johns Beach Services (843-448-6454) and can be purchased by the lifeguard on the beach. Prices vary depending on length of rental, please contact Johns Beach Services or speak to a lifeguard for exact pricing. 

Can I rent a beach wheelchair on my vacation?

Yes. For free beach wheelchair rentals for Myrtle Beach- 843-918-1488 – They can be used from 8AM to 5PM, no overnight request. They are based on availability and cannot be requested ahead of time. Large vehicles are required to transport the chairs (SUV, van, or pickup truck).  Delivery and pickup services are available and there may be an additional charge per service during the summer season. For any questions please call Beach Services at (843) 663-8600.  

Are roll-a-way beds available at the resort?

No. The Breakers Resort does not have roll-a-way beds.
