If you’re tired of the same old bar-and-grill grind of light beer and boring burgers, imagine how your taste buds must feel. So many nights out on the town seem to revolve around the familiar rotation of a mixed drink you can find nearly anywhere, a major-brand beer and an entree straight from the deep fryer.

Not that there’s anything wrong with those tired, timeless classics, but sometimes you need to break out of your rut and try something different. For guests staying at The Breakers Resort in Myrtle Beach, the new Strong Waters Craft Cocktails & Kitchen provides the perfect place to give your taste buds a tantalizing break from the norm without leaving the resort property.

Located directly across Ocean Boulevard from The Breakers’ twin oceanfront towers, Strong Waters Craft Cocktails & Kitchen brings the latest food-and-beverage trends that are sweeping the nation to our cozy little corner of the Carolina coast. The eclectic mix of handcrafted cocktails, hard-to-find microbrews and creative foodie-friendly dishes – all served in an atmosphere unlike any other on the Grand Strand – is a must-visit during your Myrtle Beach vacation.

The contrast strikes you almost immediately as you walk through the door from the bustling beach-town scene on Ocean Boulevard and into the tranquil and tastefully decorated Strong Waters. Modern meets rustic with a vintage decor that includes wagon-wheel chandeliers, corner booths with classic drapes for more privacy, and traditional furnishings of tables and chairs. But the centerpiece of Strong Waters is the beautiful wooden bar with cozy stools and a seemingly endless list of drink options.

The bar menu features a variety of craft cocktails made before your eyes, like the Hair of the Dog Bloody Mary with “everything but the kitchen sink,” the Strong Water Hurricane and the Lavender Field. In addition to using top-shelf liquors and house-made mixers, Strong Waters delivers a unique “farm-to-shaker” approach with fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and other flavors to kick things up a notch, like cane sugar, smoked honey, peaches, cucumbers and whatever is fresh from the garden. Strong Waters also incorporates bitters and whiskey to make delicious barrel-aged concoctions.

Strong Waters also features a rotating list of 12 craft brews from the region, allowing patrons to sample a taste of the Carolinas in a variety of flavors and styles. An on-tap list above the bar informs beer nerds of all they need to know, including the name and town of the featured breweries, the styles of beer available, and each offering’s alcohol by volume and International Bitterness Units ratings. Pick a brew to match your food order, such as a nice porter or stout to complement the house-made brisket Reuben. Other kitchen favorites include a pimento cheese skillet, barbecue smoked ribs, and a wide selection of meat and cheese boards.

Strong Waters also offers happy hour specials Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., with $4 craft beers and other food and drink discounts. On Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 7 p.m., live music plays in the intimate room, and the relaxed atmosphere creates just the right environment for a fun night out. Guests at The Breakers Resort can search Myrtle Beach far and wide and not find a place this cool to chill out, and locals and regulars have already started to sniff out this one-of-a-kind watering hole. The party lasts as long as the bartenders/mixologists decide to stay open, so you can enjoy a fun night out at Strong Waters without ever leaving the premises.
