Located in the heart of the Grand Strand is The Breakers Resort.  One of the top resorts for water amenities, food and beverage and yes, the miles of ocean views.  If you are planning to travel here for the long Labor Day weekend, we wanted to put together a list of things you can do on or off property so you get the proper rest and relaxation.

Here at the resort, the beaches are less crowded, but the weather is incredible.  Choose from an oceanfront lounge chair as the kids splash in the outdoor pool and float along the lazy river.  Grab a bite from The Rusty Reel for lunch and head to Strongwater's for dinner.  If you are looking for some fun that takes you off property, here are some things you might want to consider:

Outdoor Concert: Boasting “the Best Backyard in Town,” the Boathouse will wrap up its summer Sunday Concert Series on the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach with a performance by alternative reggae band The Movement on Sunday, September 2. The show begins at 5 p.m.

Water Parks and Amusement Parks: At many of the Grand Strand’s water parks and amusement parks – including Myrtle Waves, Wild Water & Wheels, and Splashes Water Park – Labor Day weekend will mark the end of the summer season, so visitors will get one final opportunity to experience the parks’ thrills and excitement before the attractions are closed for the fall and winter.

Fireworks and Other Entertainment: Although the summer season is wrapping up, there still is a lot to celebrate.  Enjoy the skies over the Grand Strand lighting up as we say goodbye to summer.  At North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing shopping/dining/entertainment complex, the SummerFest entertainment series offers roaming entertainers, live music, and other activities on the evening of Friday, August 31, all followed by season-finale fireworks show at 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 1. Myrtle Beach hot spot Broadway at the Beach will present a fireworks display over Lake Broadway on Sunday, September 2, at 10 p.m. – in addition to presenting free live entertainment every night of the week through September 2 as part of its Summer Nights entertainment series.

Beach, Boogie & BBQ:  This event takes place every September during Labor Day at The Market Commons.  Smells the BBQ as vendors compete for that top award of best BBQ, sample the winner or enjoy the many other flavors.  Sit back and take in the live music, walk around and view the fine arts and crafts on display and don't forget to visit the wine and beer garden to wash down all of the samples you got to enjoy.

Saying goodbye to summer, isn't easy as we begin a new routine, but don't worry, there is still plenty of fun to be had.  So, make your plans today and head to The Breakers Resort in Myrtle Beach, where you will be well rested for the school year ahead.
