With its impressive list of both natural and man-made attractions — ranging from the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway to parks, museums, theaters, thrill rides and restaurants of most every type — the Myrtle Beach area truly has something for everyone. It’s why people of all stripes come from far and wide to vacation on the Grand Strand, and why many of them keep returning one year after another.

Today, let’s look at three types of vacationers — families, foodies and all-nighters — and consider just a few of the reasons each can find something right up their alley on the Grand Strand:

Families: Definitely the area’s largest attraction in terms of size, and probably its biggest single draw for most family vacationers, the Atlantic Ocean is an obvious reason vacationers flock to the Grand Strand. And at The Breakers Resort, guests have easy access to the ocean, as the beach and our oceanfront pool deck are right in the resort’s backyard. After some beach time, grab your vacation crew and head about 1.5 miles inland from the resort to Broadway Grand Prix, where seven unique go-kart tracks await for some high-speed thrills. Once you’ve raced up an appetite, head to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at the nearby Broadway at the Beach shopping/dining/entertainment complex for some dinner. In addition to an array of flavors of that frozen concoction that helps folks hang on, menu options include Mexican fare like chicken fajitas and fish tacos, sandwiches and burgers (including, of course, the Cheeseburger in Paradise), seafood, grilled ribs and steaks, and more. For dessert, take a short stroll along Lake Broadway over to Johnny Rockets, where the lineup of hand-spun milkshakes includes favorites like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, as well as deluxe options like Strawberry Oreo Crumble and Hershey’s Chocolate Banana.

Foodies: The delicious dishes start early on the Grand Strand, with breakfast items like the Eggs Benedict and Southern Style Biscuits & Gravy at local favorite Blueberry's Grill. The restaurant is located about 5 miles north of the resort on North Kings Highway, and other delicious ways to start your day there include the French Beignets, the Chicken & Waffles with Sugar Pears, and the Wild Smoked Salmon Croissant. For a great lunch option, head to Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s at shopping/dining/entertainment complex Barefoot Landing. Set to open in summer 2018, the restaurant serves up signature items like the top-selling Crab Melt and the “Pa-Menna” Cheeseburger in a fun and lively atmosphere that includes live music nightly, an arcade, a ropes-climbing course, a large beach area and “LuLu’s Shag Beach Bar.” For dinner, try Hook & Barrel, located about 5 miles north of the resort on North Kings Highway. Entrée options at this locally owned restaurant include a range of fresh fish choices that can be baked, grilled, seared or blackened, specialties like Paella for Two and Crab Cakes, and pasta dishes like Chicken Farfalle and Rasta Pasta. For dessert, drop into The Library Restaurant on your way home to check out one of their delicious house-made desserts.

All-Nighters: If you and your vacation crew are in celebration mode and want to party into the wee hours, Celebrity Square at nearby Broadway at the Beach — located just a couple miles inland from The Breakers — has plenty of options to choose from. Snap up some musical fun at Crocodile Rocks Dueling Pianos, where a crew of professional pianists tickle the ivories to get the crowds rocking every night. When late-night hunger strikes, stroll one door down The Avenue to the Hard Rock Café, which stays open until 11 p.m. on weeknights, until midnight on Fridays and until 2 a.m. on Saturdays, to take in some rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia and some all-American grub. And close out your night across Celebrity Square on the dance floor at Señor Frog’s, where the nightly fiesta ensures visitors will find some good times.
