Let’s face it — when you are on your much-deserved family vacation, having plenty of activities to keep the kiddos content and happy makes the getaway more enjoyable for everyone. Many guests return to The Breakers Resort year after year because of the nearby attractions and included amenities catering to young children. Here are a few kid-friendly reasons families keep coming back to The Breakers:

Children’s Museum of South Carolina: One of the most amazing things about children is their creativity and love of learning. They want to explore and discover. Visit the Children’s Museum to fulfill this yearning for knowledge. The museum offers interactive exhibits that foster imagination and creativity. Exhibits include huge building blocks for constructing walls and structures, a pirate ship to climb, a place where the whole family can step in and surround themselves with bubbles, and even a huge Lite Brite to bring kids’ imagination to life. Children can also go gem mining, become a paleontologist searching through sand for hidden fossils, or visit an art center set up to help get their creative spirit flowing by drawing, coloring and crafting. Hours are Monday to Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday noon–5 p.m.

Kiddie Rides: At nearby Broadway at the Beach, there is a whole section of kiddie rides waiting for your children to jump on and have a blast. Among the rides on tap at Pavilion Park, a collection of nostalgia rides may include ones you rode when you were a kid. Don’t worry — they’ve all been updated and are extremely safe. Elsewhere, the new rides your kids can try include the Myrtle Turtle coaster. Broadway at the Beach also has a park where kids can swing, slide and run around, exhausting all that wonderful kiddo energy. Before they go back to The Breakers Resort, let the kids cruise over to the interactive fountain and cool off after all their hard play.

Pelicans Baseball: Come cheer on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Class A Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. At Pelicans Ballpark, there’s more than just a baseball game for the kids to enjoy. Additional attractions include jump houses, play parks and all kinds of other activities for the kids. The stands boast great seats at reasonable prices, and plenty of hot dogs, soda, popcorn, peanuts and other tasty treats are available at the concession stands. After the game, the brood can run the bases with mascots Splash and Deuce. It’s a great place for the family, and an awesome time will be had by all.

Breakers Amenities: One of the best things about staying at The Breakers is all the activities and amenities available for children. Big hits with the kids include the lazy river, the indoor kiddie pools, and the new and improved sunken pirate ship that will debut June 1. The resort even offers a kids club that provides all kinds of fun activities such as face painting, scavenger hunts and T-shirt tie-dying. The kids also get to bring home their own memories by making crafts and souvenirs. Take advantage of this fantastic service.

The Breakers is very good at kidding around. Come and see for yourself why so many families keep coming back year after year for their Myrtle Beach vacation.
