Let’s explore some of the one-of-a-kind Christmas shows being presented on the Grand Strand this year — and get a better idea of why they’ve been attracting the crowds for years. Consider these live-action options when you and your vacation crew are hungry for some entertainment and a heaping helping of the Christmas spirit:

The Christmas Show of the South: This Grand Strand holiday tradition, presented annually at The Carolina Opry Theater on North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, features an award-winning cast of more than 35 musicians, singers and dancers, and this year celebrates its 34th season of delighting attendees. Crowd favorite Moses Braxton, who returned in 2018 after nearly a decade away, again brings his smooth baritone voice to the mix, and the show’s mix of singing, dancing and comedy is sure to put big smiles to attendees’ faces and lots of Christmas spirit in their souls. The show opens on November 1 this year and runs through January 4, 2020. For more on the show and to get your tickets, visit www.carolinaopry.com.

The South’s Grandest Christmas Show: Presented each year at the Alabama Theatre at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, this award-winning seasonal production puts a spotlight on talented performers, amazing special effects, beautiful Christmas-themed scenery and, of course, a whole lot of holiday music. Traditional Christmas classics and contemporary holiday favorites take center stage in this show filled with song, dance and laughter. The show runs from November 1 through December 31 in 2019. Christmas at Pirates Voyage: Putting a high-seas spin on a holiday celebration, this show at Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage on North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach features a swashbuckling cast of pirates who bring Charles Dickens’ famed “A Christmas Carol” to life — with a nautical twist. Follow along as Captain Scrooge encounters acrobatic seafarers, a comical castaway and her sea lion companion, the Three Wise Men on camels, an angel with a special holiday message to share, and more — all on, above and around an in-house ship floating in the theater’s own lagoon.
