Your vacation begins at Breaker's Resort as you unwind in your oceanfront condo and step out onto the balcony and smell the fresh ocean air with just a hint of suntan lotion.  Head down to one of the many pools or grab a tube and float your worries away in the lazy river.  If you wondering what to do for the Fourth of July, we have just the plans for you!

Consider these 5 top reasons to choose the Myrtle Beach area for your Independence Day celebrations:

Fireworks Galore — Located about 5 minutes from The Breaker's Resort, the  Broadway at the Beach shopping, dining and entertainment hot spot offers a trio of fireworks shows during 4th of July week (set for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 10 p.m.). Other area fireworks shows during 4th of July week include a pair of pyrotechnics displays at North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing (Monday and Wednesday at 10 p.m.), which also offers fireworks shows on Monday nights throughout the summer, as well as another in Murrells Inlet during July 4th on the MarshWalk starting at 10 p.m.

The Weather — OK, so it’s likely to be pretty steamy all over the U.S. on the 4th of July, but few places offer more options than the Grand Strand for escaping the heat. Beyond the miles of beaches along the Carolina coastline, the area offers water parks such as Myrtle Waves, Splashes and Wild Water & Wheels, plus other fun and unique water attractions like Shark Wake Park. Further, guests at Ocean Reef Resort have easy access to the resort’s extensive water attractions (more on those later). And don’t forget that the Grand Strand boasts an array of family-friendly indoor (and air-conditioned) attractions that’s simply too long to list.

Festivals, Fun Runs, etc. — The 4th of July brings a number of annual events and festivals to the Myrtle Beach area, including the Pawleys Island Golf Cart Parade, which sees participants parade through town on makeshift patriotic floats; the Surfside Beach 4th of July Celebration featuring live entertainment and patriotic family fun; and the Independence Day 5K and 8K at The Market Common’s Valor Park.

Family Fun on the Beach — Beyond the usual beach activities like relaxing in the sand, swimming in the surf and building sandcastles, guests at Breaker's Resort can get inventive during their days spent soaking up sunshine on the Carolina coast. By bringing along a few needed supplies, vacationers can enjoy a game of cornhole, start up a bocce match, crank up (or even play) a little music on the beach &mdasmdash; the list of options is endless. Of course, whatever activity you choose, be sure to show your patriotic spirit by donning your red, white and blue attire, which — in case you forgot to pack enough for your entire Grand Strand stay — can be found in a number of area shops.

Our Resort’s Wide-Ranging Amenities — When you and your family stay at Breaker's Resort, you’ve got loads of options for celebrating your extra-long holiday weekend. Among them, you could grab a meal at the on-site Café du Port or Banana Boat Lounge; have some wet and wild fun at the on-property Shipwreck Water Park, indoor and outdoor pools, or lazy river; or strike up some friendly competition in the game room, on the shuffleboard or volleyball courts, or on the giant chess and checker boards — the choice is yours!

The 4th of July is a popular time to head for the Carolina coast — so grab your friends, family and favorite swimming trunks and head to Myrtle Beach.
