Catch a Concert at House of Blues in 2015

The House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach opened in 1997 at Barefoot Landing, and the Grand Strand music scene has never been the same. The lack of a viable, mid-sized concert venue cost the Myrtle Beach music scene as touring acts frequently bypasses our corner of the South Carolina coast.

But the House of Blues changed all that. The main concert hall, which holds more than 2,000 spectators, began booking major musical acts to its stage, and locals and visitors hungry for live shows responded in kind, packing the venue for all kinds of shows over the year.

2015 is no different. The HOB recently released its lineup for the new year and it looks like another winner for local music fans. From country music to R&B and from hard rock to alternative, the HOB has a diverse collection of artists ready to bring down the house:

* Feb. 6, Kongos: Catch this South African alternative rock act, which brings its unique sound to the main concert stage. Consisting of four brothers, Kongos' sound is quickly gaining ground and fans in the US.

* Feb. 7, Brett Eldredge: Joined by opening act Ryan Kinder, this country music showcase is sure to draw a large honkytonking crowd. Eldredge's break-through hit “Don't Ya” hit No. 1 in 2013.

* Feb. 14: Celebrate Valentine's Day at the HOB in a variety of ways: The special Dinner and a Show in the main concert hall, the Murder Mystery Music Theatre, and live local music in the Crossroads bar.

* Feb. 20: Sam Hunt. Time to put on your cowboys boots and hat and hit the HOB for this country music solo artist. Hailing from the border state of Georgia, Hunt is sure to draw a nice hometown crowd.

* Feb. 21, The Wailers and Rusted Root: Reggae music takes many forms, and that fact will be on display on the main stage as the legendary act from Jamaica joins the Pittsburgh-based alt-rock outfit.

* Feb. 27, K. Michelle: Only the HOB stage can contain this rising starlet's talent. You may know here as a TV personality from VH1's “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” but she's also a singer, pianist, guitarist and songwriter.

* March 6, Bush: Better known for selling out larger venues, this London-based alternative rock act's appearance is sure to be a tough ticket. This spring break show should draw a big college crowd.

* March 12, Styx: This popular 1980s band is back on tour and continues to pack  mid-sized venues with longtime fans who know their greatest hits by heart – “Mr. Roboto,” “Babe” and many more.

* March 28, Ledisi: This jazz and R&B singer puts on a great live show. Catch her with special guests  Raheem DeVaughn and Leela James for a showcase of talent on the HOB main stage.

* April 10, Tesla: This 1980s rock outfit continues to attract crowds with their timeless hits, such as the anti-establishment classic “Sign”.  Sledd and Nomara serve as opening acts.

* April 11, Aaron Lewis: Fans of the hard-rock band Staind might not recognize the solo efforts of their lead singer. Lewis unveils his country music roots on this tour as a solo musician. 

* April 17, moe.: This Buffalo-based Indie rock band has developed a strong local fan following over the years for their energetic shows and unusual but catchy songs and lyrics.

* April 18, Blackberry Smoke: Performing their Southern rock/country sound in support of their “Holding All the Roses” album, their debut effort since splitting with Zack Brown's record label.

* May 8, Flogging Molly: This Irish folk/rock act brings their high-energy live show to the main stage. Performing Irish classics and sing-along songs, this concert is an experience.
