Breakers Resort: A Great Place to Tie the Knot

Spring means the wedding season is near. And planning has been going on for a while. Myrtle Beach, no surprise, is a popular spot for exchanging nuptials.

The Grand Strand has its share of beauty and romance, the ideal setting for a perfect wedding. Whether your style is traditional or unconventional, there’s a venue for you. And there are so many to choose from.

One that gets heightened interest this time of year: Breakers Resort. We’ll tell you a little more about what a wedding at Breakers can be.

A Myrtle Beach wedding falls into the category of a destination wedding, and it’s big business. It involves many aspects, from catering to event planners. But destination weddings aren’t always tough to plan — or difficult to afford.

Lori Posma is a taskforce specialist for Brittain Resorts. She helps coordinate weddings at Breakers Resort. This iconic property offers oceanfront lawn ceremonies for as many as 100 guests. “With the beautiful Atlantic as your backdrop,” Posma said.

More couples are choosing to escape to places such as Myrtle Beach for their wedding than ever. Data from the Library of Congress suggests 10% of all U.S. weddings are destination weddings. That’s a huge uptick in the past 10 years.

Celebrities have recently made the destination wedding a big deal. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin got married in a historic Venice hotel. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt tied the knot in a French chateau. And Kim and Kanye went to an Italian villa to exchange vows. So why not bring your wedding party to the Grand Strand and do this in grand style?

People consider destination weddings more exotic than before, and less an elopement. Especially when a location is a place like Myrtle Beach, especially in a resort such as Breakers.

And after a down year in 2020, couples are moving forward with plans now in greater numbers. “We have had many requests for weddings in 2021 and many for 2022,” Posma said

Breakers is more than a pretty place for the wedding day, though. Although, it is definitely that.

“After exchanging vows, you will proceed to our penthouse ballroom,” Posma said. “It has floor-to-ceiling windows with some of the best views Myrtle Beach has to offer.”

A southern coastal wedding wouldn’t be complete without a down-home southern meal. Breakers can deliver that, too, in any budget, with packages that start at $35 per person. For convenience, a venue rental includes necessities such as:

  • Chairs
  • China
  • Flatware
  • Linens
  • Tables

At Breakers Resort, you have an array of accommodations to get ready for your big day, too.

Choose from standard rooms to three-bedroom oceanfront condos at Breakers Resort. Pre- and post-ceremony, you’re in a great location for fun and diversions, too.

“Breakers is in the heart of the bustling downtown area,” Posma said. “We’re walking distance to upscale bars and restaurants and the Myrtle Beach boardwalk.”
