Lorrie Morgan will arrive to the Alabama Theatre September 2022!
The first woman in her genre to begin her career with 3 consecutive Platinum albums, Morgan re-emerges on Shanachie Entertainment with Letting Go…Slow. A night showcasing her collection of a rainbow of emotions, Morgan performs from the darkest heartache to bright humor.
“Where I am in my life right now, I’m not afraid to express what I feel, or what I don’t feel,” she comments about the varied moods within her collection. “I’m not afraid to express my views on anything, especially on being a woman. I have been a daughter, a bride, a mother, a divorcee, a widow, a single mother, a breadwinner, and ultimately, a survivor. In many ways, I am a living, breathing country song, and I know what I sing. I didn’t want this to be just another album. I wanted it to be something that really moved me. When I listened to songs for it, I’d think ‘No, not that one. I’m not going to be able to sing that one, because I’m not going to be able to feel it.’ It was very important to me for this album to reflect the things that I am feeling today.”
Morgan has been the envy of her peers for quite some time for her lustrous vocal phrasing, as well as her down-to-earth believability of her torch performances. On records such as “A Picture of Me Without You” and “I Guess You Had to Be There,” she sang and ached of pain. In “Watch Me,” “Five Minutes,” I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” and “What Part of No,” she sang with sass and feistiness. She has even kicked up her stiletto heels with fun hits like “Except for Monday” and “Go Away.” Her performances on Letting Go…Slow can match any of her earlier efforts, while they are among the most vibrant of her career. The collection is equally divided between her reinventions of country classics and her new songs.
Lorrie Morgan will be at the Alabama Theatre on September 17th, 2022. The show will begin at 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased online or through the box office at 800-342-2262.
