Your Guide to Myrtle Beach Watersports

Soon enough, those beautiful Myrtle Beach waves will be warm enough to get into.

We know you can’t wait. And there are levels of engagement for everyone from the casual to the hard-core. Here are things to do in the water on the Grand Strand, and where you can do them.

PARASAIL

Also called parascending, it’s when a car, boat, or truck tows a person attached to a canopy wing. This manned kite looks like a parachute. It’s a popular, adrenaline-pumping activity, gliding over the ocean in the air. Participants can fly as high as 500 feet.

Where to do it

Downwind Sails: Take an 8- 10-minute ride and see Myrtle Beach and its wildlife like never before. You’ll have a blast with this communicative, courteous, and helpful team.

PERSONAL WATERCRAFT

You’ve heard of it as jet-skiing, from the brand name that Kawasaki manufacturers. You ride a small craft with an inboard jet drive, kneeling, sitting, or standing on it, rather than in it. Swimming isn’t for everyone, so on a personal watercraft, you can enjoy the water without being in it. And it’s more cardiovascular exercise than you might expect riding on one!

Where to do it

Myrtle Beach Watersports: Serving Garden City, Little River, Murrells Inlet, and North Myrtle. You’ll find amazing instructors for the best experience — you’ll have so much fun.

BOAT RENTALS

Take your family on an adventure in a pontoon or similar watercraft. Relax, fish, and more. Rentals include life jackets, iPod connectivity, radio, and more. You’re out on your own, to bask in the sun or hop in the water for a swim if you’d like, even with the kids. As long as you observe open-water swimming safety measures, it can be a great way to spend a half or full-day.

Island Adventure Watersports: Take a boat out for the favorite adventure of your trip. They also offer kayaking, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, and more.

GUIDED WATER TOUR

Take a cruise on the Grand Strand’s water options to take in the scenery, learn about the area, snap photos, and more. Some outfits let you schedule a private tour, too. They can be great bonding experiences, with family or friends, for lasting memories. Watch a sunset, fish, appreciate views and wildlife, unplug and enjoy.

Waccamaw River Tours: Explore the cypress-lined river and Intracoastal Waterway creeks and swamps. It’s an enjoyable, informative, relaxing time on the river’s natural beauty.

FISHING CHARTERS

Take an excursion with professional fishers to cast a line and see what you can land. Charters are usually set at a time rate and are often customizable. Deep-sea or near-sea fishing can be a terrific experience with the wonder of the unknown. It’s also quite relaxing.

BANANA BOAT

It’s a towed, unpowered, inflatable craft that accommodates 3-10 riders, usually banana-shaped. And yellow. You’ll find the same thrills you might on any other personal watercraft, but with lots of your friends. Perfect for fun-seekers.

Where to do it

Ocean Watersports: A great value, the banana boat ride is more comfortable than a jet ski and just as fun and scenic. It could be the most fun you’ve ever had, and it’s definitely a great idea for family fun.
