7 Myrtle Beach National Courses Receive 4 or More Stars

09/23/2006

October 2, 2006, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Seven Myrtle Beach National Company golf courses have recently been awarded four or more stars in the 2006 Golf Digest “Best Places to Play Guide.” The “Best Places to Play Guide” is a biannual publication by Golf Digest that reviews public and private golf courses throughout the United States. Readers submit ballots based on their visits to golf courses over a two-year period. Each course must receive at least 10 ballots to be considered and the rating takes into account the golfer’s overall experience at the course, the services provided to the golfer, the course’s perceived value and the pace of play.

The ballots are then converted into a one-to-five star ranking system for the “Places to Play Guide.” One star indicates “Basic golf.” Two stars means “Good but not great.” Three stars indicates that a course is “Very good. Tell a friend it’s worth getting off the highway to play.” Four stars tells golfers that the course is “Outstanding. Plan your next vacation around it.” The rare five star ranking indicates that the course is “Superb. Golf at its absolute best. Pay any price to play at least once in your life.”

Five Myrtle Beach National courses received four-and-a-half stars; Long Bay Club, King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, the West Course at Myrtle Beach National, River Club and Willbrook Plantation. Aberdeen Country Club and Litchfield Country Club were both awarded four stars.

“Having seven of our courses receive four stars or more in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play Guide” is a testament to the outstanding design, condition and service that Myrtle Beach National Company offers,” said Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations. “Golfers enjoy playing our courses for their scenic beauty, conditioning, playability and our service with southern hospitality.”
