03/21/2008
High School Golf Team Will Practice and Host Matches at the Willard Byrd Course
Litchfield Country Club officials announced today that the Club will serve as the home course of the Lowcountry Day School golf team during the 2008 spring season. The Fightin’ Marlins varsity golf team consists of eight student-athletes who are currently in grades nine through 12. The Lowcountry Day School will practice daily at the course and host four tournaments during the season that runs from mid-March through the month of April.
“We’ve played other courses in the Grand Strand community, but Litchfield Country Club stands head-and-shoulders above everyone,” said Danny Bell, head coach of the Fightin’ Marlins golf team. The Litchfield course is in great shape and we have the use of their driving range, putting green and walk nine holes each day during practice. The Litchfield Country Club staff has been very professional and the teaching professionals take the time to offer additional tips after practice. Our relationship with Litchfield Country Club has helped our student-athletes improve their game.”
“We are very excited to welcome the Lowcountry Day School golf team to Litchfield,” said Christa Bodensteiner, head golf professional. “We hope that practicing daily on our challenging course will give the team a true advantage during their matches. Litchfield Country Club has always been very supportive of junior golf programs and we look forward to supporting the Low Country squad in 2008.”
