Golf Holiday and GOLF Magazine Host Inaugural GOLF Magazine Championship

February 26, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and GOLF Magazine announced today that they will host the inaugural GOLF Magazine Championship, March 4-5, 2008, at Barefoot Resort & Golf.
Seventy-two golfers will participate in the event on Monday and Tuesday after being selected during a two-month contest held on GOLF Magazine’s web site, GOLF.com. More than 18,000 golfers registered for the golf vacation to Myrtle Beach, and each winner and guest receiving meals and two days of golf and instruction under the tutelage of the game’s best teachers.
On Tuesday, March 4, the golfers will participate in a full morning of instruction on all aspects of the game from five of GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers”, Mike Perpich from RiverPines Golf in Alpharetta, Georgia; Gale Peterson from Sea Island Golf Learning Center in St. Simons Island, Georgia; Carol Preisinger from Kiawah Island Club in Kiawah Island, South Carolina; Dana Radar from The Dana Radar Golf School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Brad Redding from Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Later that afternoon, the five “Top 100 Teachers” will host another instructional clinic at the Barefoot Resort & Golf practice facility with Charlie Rymer, ESPN commentator and Road Trip: Myrtle Beach cast member, serving as the emcee. The clinic will run from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Admission to the event is free and the public is encouraged to attend and learn from the game’s best teachers.
On Wednesday morning, March 5, the golfers will tee off at The Love Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf in the two-person, 18-hole tournament with a four-ball net stroke play format. After the conclusion of the golf, an awards reception will be held at the Barefoot Resort & Golf clubhouse featuring GOLF Magazine columnist David Feherty as the master of ceremonies.
