Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship Accepting Entries

02/25/2008

Golf Capital of the World to Host National Prep Golf Tournament, March 20-22, 2008

February 25, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Team entries are now being accepted for the 11th annual Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championships, to be held March 20-22, 2008. Hosted by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, the Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship will welcome more than 60 teams from 10 states and Canada, including Alabama, California, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. The 54-hole event will be held at Aberdeen Country Club, Blackmoor Golf Club, Crown Park Golf Club, Founders Club, Indigo Creek Golf Club, Meadowlands Golf Club, River Hills Golf Club, Sea Trail Plantation, The Pearl Golf Club, Tradition Golf Club, True Blue Plantation and Wachesaw Plantation.

The Palmetto’s qualifying method ensures that teams of all skill levels enjoy a competitive experience. The tournament kicks off the first day with a qualifying round to flight each squad and teams then participate in the two-day championship within their flight. In addition to the team competition, medals are awarded to the top individual performers in each flight.

The Palmetto High School Golf Championships will once again team up with the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) for the annual spring championship, and the fourth annual fall championship, to be held September 13-14, 2008. The NHSGCA is the only national association for high school golf coaches and through the partnership, the Palmetto High School Golf Championships reaches high school golf coaches across the country seeking tournaments for their teams. The NHSGCA also sponsors the Palmetto All-Tournament Team.

“The Palmetto High School Golf Championships is one of the most competitive high school team tournaments in the nation,” said Dave Macpherson, Palmetto High School Golf Championships tournament coordinator. “The tournament hosted more than 50 teams from 20 states in 2007, and with the assistance of the National High School Golf Coaches Association, we expect a deep field again this spring.”

The cost for the three-day tournament is $950 per five-person team and registration ends March 1, 2008. For more information about the 2008 Palmetto High School Golf Championships, call 1-800-833-8798 or visit PalmettoGolfChampionship.com.
