Part of the joy of vacation is letting others cook for you for a change at the more than 1,700 restaurants on the Grand Strand. But if cooking is your idea of fun, Myrtle Beach has that too. From fun cooking programs designed specifically for kids to serious culinary arts programs for adults, Myrtle Beach has a wide range of classes available for foodies. Check out these locations for cooking classes:

Boom Boom Wine Room: Local foodies know this place as an elegant, ultra-chic cafe with an extensive wine list and creative menu, but the Boom Boom Wine Room is branching out to offer culinary classes for children. Located in Northwoods Plaza in the Dunes section of Myrtle Beach, this locally owned and operated tasting room hosts children from ages 8 to 12 to learn basic kitchen skills to advanced cooking techniques, as well as safety training. Led by the Boom Boom Wine Room's culinary team, each class provides instruction and hands-on cooking in a fun but educational setting. Not only can the little ones learn their way around the kitchen, the real fun starts with the tasting parties after the work in the kitchen is done. The two-hour kids cooking classes are held at 1 p.m. Mondays during the summer months. Space is limited so reservations and advance registration is required.

International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach: Located on the Horry Georgetown Technical College’s Market Common campus, this program is for serious-minded students pursuing a career in the culinary arts. Classes are offered by the semester so there are no daily or weekly programs, but if you are serious about becoming a chef and you love Myrtle Beach, this is a great place to learn how to cook.  ICIMB hands-on cooking classes include a bakery, a nutrition lab, professional-style kitchens, outdoor barbeque, greenhouse, wine cellar, beverage bar, chef’s bar, chef’s table, and an amphitheater for hosting large seminars and demonstrations. The school also operates several full restaurants run by experienced teachers and manned by students. The price is right for some excellent cuisine at the Fowler Dining Room on the Conway campus and the Beach Bistro at Market Common in Myrtle Beach.

Kitchen Capers Culinary Techniques: Owner and operator Debbie Turner has turned her 20 years of experience and lifelong passion for cooking into her own culinary school at Rainbow Harbor in Myrtle Beach. Located in the same plaza as The Melting Pot fondue restaurant, another hot spot for foodies, this spacious kitchen/classroom comes with all the fixtures and tools you need to work some culinary magic. Offering regular classes for kitchen newcomers, aspiring chefs and home cooks looking for some new tips and dishes, Kitchen Capers has sessions for every level of experience, including a new Child's Play program on Saturday morning that allows youngsters to learn the basics. Classes also cover different international styles of cooking and special programs for desserts.

Williams-Sonoma: Most people know this company for its high quality cookware and kitchen gadgets, but this national chain also offers free cooking classes free of charge to its customers. Free one-hour classes are held throughout the week, featuring experienced chefs and culinary experts offering instruction and free tasting samples. Located in Market Common on the south end of Myrtle Beach, this Sonoma-Williams store also offers a wide selection of kitchen technique classes, in which top chefs share some of their best tips, tricks and shortcuts. For the younger set, Junior Chef Classes allow the little ones to make desserts and snacks while getting to taste the goodies along the way. All classes are limited in size so reservations are recommended.
