The Palace Theatre in Myrtle Beach has a whole lot of shaking going on and has since its beginning.

As a part of Broadway at the Beach, which was founded in 1996, the theatre is a bona fide tourist attraction, as well as a place for locals to unwind and enjoy pleasant entertainment.

The productions and performers there have varied through the years. In the Palace Theatre’s past, folks like Patti Labelle and Maxi Priest were among the artists dazzling audiences.

Since then, the Palace Theatre is more of a hub for musicals, veteran performers and family-friendly entertainment.

“Rock Around The Clock” is a show, which began Feb. 21 and ends Dec. 29, giving tribute to 1950s rock ‘n’ roll, with cast members replete in poodle skirts, Buddy Holly glasses and clothes the colors of Crayons. It is a blast from music history’s past that is bubbly, fun and reflects a more innocent time in American music.

“I really liked the venue,” said Greg London, the artistic director at The Palace Theatre from 2008-2010, who is about to embark on a national tour of “West Side Story.” “I thought it was a spectacular place.”

The Palace Theatre launches its “Christmas on Ice” show on Nov. 2. The production, a Grand Strand favorite, ends Dec. 29.
