Three, two, one … Happy New Year! We recite the traditional countdown every year, but this time you can mean it and make sure you get off to a happy start to 2017. With New Year's Eve falling on a Saturday, it's the perfect time for a weekend getaway to the Grand Strand and an exciting stay at The Breakers Resort in downtown Myrtle Beach.

Guests at The Breakers can ring in the New Year in grand style without leaving the property. Our New Year's party package includes tickets to our 15th floor ballroom, where you can dine and dance the night away while overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. For $99 per couple, you receive a delicious dinner for two and admission to the New Year’s Eve Dance Party, featuring a musical performance by Stan Gregory, a champagne toast and a balloon drop at midnight — and you can take the short stroll to your room when the party is finally over.

But for those who want to catch a cab and enjoy all the festivities Myrtle Beach has to offer, here's a sneak preview of all the fun and festivities scheduled for New Year's Eve on the Grand Strand:

* Barefoot Landing: This North Myrtle Beach entertainment complex goes all out for New Year's Eve. In addition to a concert by Country favorite Corey Smith, the House of Blues holds an elegant Dinner & Dance special that includes a four-course feast, live music and dancing, and a champagne toast at the stroke of midnight. The adjoining Crossroads Bar hosts a less-formal party with live music and drink specials. For a more family-friendly venue, the Alabama Theatre holds its holiday show, which begins shortly after the free fireworks display at 6 p.m.

* Beach Ball Classic: Breakers Resort serves as the host hotel for this nationally known high school basketball tournament, which runs Dec. 26-31 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Featuring some of the top teams and talent in the nation on display at the 5,000-seat arena, the Beach Ball Classic holds its championship games and slam-dunk contest to close out the event on New Year's Eve. There's also a post-tournament party in a private ballroom at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, which is only blocks from The Breakers.

* Broadway at the Beach: Located about a mile directly down 21st Avenue North from The Breakers, Broadway at the Beach offers the rare opportunity for adults and kids to have their own New Year's Eve parties. Let the little ones experience the thrill of a sleepover at Ripley's Aquarium, where they can enjoy fun activities, fireworks and even sleep with the sharks while the grown-ups find their own brand of fun. Celebrity Square hosts a street party with live music and entertainment, while the clubs hold their own indoor parties. Ring in 2017 with a champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight.

* The Market Common: New York City's Times Square tradition gets a Southern makeover at The Market Common, which hosts “A Southern Times Square” as a family-friendly tribute to our urban neighbors to the north. This street party features two stages for live music, so patrons can walk around the district and take in the sights, then take a break in the beer garden or one of the many restaurants and bars that are staying open late for the occasion. Admission is free, and the festivities get underway at 7 p.m.

Whether you hit the town for New Year’s Eve or decide to celebrate on the premises, Breakers Resort is the perfect place to start the New Year. Make your plans to count down the final hours of 2016 in Myrtle Beach, and start 2017 off in the lap of luxury at The Breakers Resort.
