Jungle Lagoon Miniature Golf: Among Myrtle Beach’s Best
Jungle Lagoon Miniature Golf in Myrtle Beach, is located at the corner of 5th Avenue South and Route 17 Business, and has as much curb appeal as any of the Grand Strand’s impressive mini-golf venues. And it has built up a huge following over the three decades it has been in business.
A major part of Jungle Lagoon’s appeal is that perhaps the most eye-catching feature visible to passersby is one with which visitors will directly interface: one of the holes on one of its two 18-hole courses. “The Big Hill,” the 11th hole on the Lagoon Course, cascades down a mountain with three side-by-side routes to play the hole. It is unique in the world of miniature golf, carpeted in green and white so as to resemble, simultaneously, a tiger’s claws and a waterfall.
The rest of the Lagoon course has a Hawaiian feel, with banana trees, mountains, caves and waterfalls that some Jungle Lagoon enthusiasts have chosen as a wedding backdrop, all concentrated around “The Big Hill.” Panoramic views of Myrtle Beach from the upper holes on the Lagoon Course make it a popular choice for evening mini-golf excursions. The other course on site, the Jungle Course, has more of an African feel, with exotic trees and plants and various animal statues scattered throughout.
To complement the excellent mini-golf, Jungle Lagoon offers a 1000 square foot covered patio area to accommodate group outings, ample room for RV and bus parking and special group rates and birthday party capabilities. It is open from 9 am until 11 pm seven days a week throughout the summer. When fall comes around, the owners adjust the schedule of operations as needed.
The standard price is $9.00 for adult rounds, $7.50 for children five to 12 years of age or seniors 60 and older. Children four and younger play free before 6:00 pm and for $4.00 afterward. Jungle Lagoon also offers all-day (until 6 pm) rates of $11.00 and $9.50, respectively. After 6:00 pm, the replay rate is $4.00.
