As summer starts to heat up, our minds turn toward cooling off with a slow sip of an ice-cold beverage. If you’re looking for something that brings to mind the image of the clear blue waters of the Caribbean sea, then you may want to give the Red Parrot Cafe’s Blue Moon Margarita a try, even if you’re stuck at home!
If you can’t make it to The Breakers Resort’s Red Parrot Café in Myrtle Beach this weekend, worry not: We’re providing you the recipe so you can make your very own Blue Moon Margarita at home!
What we love about the Blue Moon Margarita is its combination of sweet and tangy, but of course the aqueous blue color doesn’t hurt.
Here’s how it’s done:
Into a shaker filled with ice, add:
• 1 ½ oz. Hornitos Plata Tequila
• 4 oz. sour mix
• ½ oz. blue Curacao
• ½ oz. Rose’s lime juice
Shake vigorously, then pour into a 12 ounce glass with a salted rim. Garnish with lime and enjoy!
Here’s a tip on salting the rim of the glass: pour a ring of salt onto a small plate, the size and shape of the rim of your glass. Wipe a slice of lime around the rim of the glass, then dip the wet rim into the salt.
So next time you find yourself in the mood for an adult beverage, give the Blue Moon Margarita a try. When you make it at home, it won’t come with the ocean views like it does here at The Breakers Resort, but maybe it’ll help transport you to your happy place.
